There may be times when you find it so hard to settle your mind, settle your nerves, or just settle the anxiety of something beneath your thoughts that undermines your peace and makes it difficult to function.
What is that? Or, even more important, why is that? I have found that even when I am actively working on my spiritual being, opening myself to guidance while also doing and being everything I see as helpful, peace can sometimes fall away as though it were never there, and an unsettled state of being takes its place, and there seems to be no rhyme or reason for why things changed as dramatically as they appeared to.
Where did my peace go? Where did my sense of grace, ease, and contentment go? Could it be they were never really there? Are those blissful moments imagined or just hoped for? But in that moment, even more importantly, how do I get it back?
When you have an issue, it's always good to try to get past all the surface issues and find the source. A lack of peace is definitely an energy issue, so a great place to start is to look at your chakras and energy being. Although most chakras contribute to your peace in some manner, the primary chakra of peace is the Heart Chakra. It can be especially sensitive to feelings of loneliness, sadness, betrayal, and a heaviness of spirit. It was obvious that something had affected it, but I couldn't see what.
When the Past Interrupts Your Peace
A few days with extra quiet time were necessary to come to the realization that our past can literally haunt us. From an eternal perspective, our past means nothing because it does not define us, but while we are here, it can be difficult to let go of all the aspects of the past we have allowed to define us. But like ghostly shadows in the night, our past perceptions are still there, lurking and waiting for an opportunity to infiltrate and take possession.
A trigger that can steal your peace and seemingly strip away your bliss is anything that pulls an image, concept, idea, or belief from your past and assigns it to the moment you are in. Just as light leaves the room when the switch is turned off, your unhelpful concepts that creep in from your past contain no light, so they have the same effect as turning the lights off, because darkness and light cannot coexist.
In my case, some aspect of a past perception grabbed hold and shut down part of the heart chakra energy, leading to my perceived loss of peace. I am sure you have experienced a similar circumstance in one form or another.
Your Peace Never Truly Left
So, what do you do once this happens and your peace appears to evade you? How do you get it back?
For starters, it doesn't matter which chakra was affected. The first thing to do is to find a truth, and something that is true in the midst of the turmoil that may swirl around you at that time, is that your peace never left. It has become shrouded in some way and hidden from your awareness, but it is still there.
Do your best to create a quiet moment for yourself. Remember that you are a light, a shining child of our Creator. Remember that you are surrounded by an infinite number of spirit beings, all willing to support you.
Then see your current state of being as though it is wearing a heavy garment. You put this on, and you can take this off. Undress the heaviness you made or accepted, and let it slip off you like an old garment that no longer has a purpose. Hand it off to spirit. Acknowledge that this is something you no longer want and would like to let go of. Spirit will receive your offer and return that unhelpful energy to Source, so you no longer have to be concerned about it.
Then, let a new garment of light descend upon you, as you truly remember the being that you are. Open your heart, mind, and soul to allow yourself, even for a tiny fraction of a second, to see the amazing, blessed, and holy being that Source already knows and sees when they look at you. It can't be otherwise. You are exactly as you were created. Nothing we do here can undo what we truly are. We can cover it, disguise it, deny it, or hide it, but we cannot change it.
Now, see that chakra blazing with light, clarity, freedom, and energy. Your previous actions darkened it and slowed it down; now they lighten it and speed it up. You may experience difficult times when your energy feels weighed down, but you are so very capable of bringing it right back up. You are the healer you have been looking for. Remember.
Remembering Your Right to Be at Peace
The world can be very chaotic, stressful, and mind-numbing. There can be so many things pulling at us at any given time, and before I let things in too easily, I find it helpful to remind myself, "I have the right to be at peace." Say that yourself, "I have the right to be at peace."
You do have the right to be at peace. You do have the right to experience joy. You do have the right to let the worst things of this world slip right off you, because you are eternal, and those things are not. You have the right, and the pressures of the world do not. That is true until we let ourselves accept too many of the weights of this life, and then the world appears to have it right. When that happens, read this article again. Repeat, repeat, repeat, until there is no reason to repeat.
And so it is.
